Robert Buckley composed Rhythmism to be a dynamic three-movement suite for wind band that celebrates the power and versatility of rhythm. With a spotlight on the percussion section, the piece explores a vibrant mix of rhythmic styles--from intricate call-and-response patterns to laid-back Latin-funk grooves and energetic swing. Each movement brings a distinct flavor: driving syncopations, a smooth saxophone solo, and bold jazz textures reminiscent of big band classics. Rhythmism is a spirited exploration of rhythm's role as a unifying force in music.
