Description
Lush and evocative, Alpenglow by Megan Vinther is a lyrical tone poem inspired by the breathtaking mountain landscapes of Colorado at sunset. Shimmering textures, expressive harmonies, and soaring melodies capture the shifting light and vast scale of the peaks as day turns to night.
Rich orchestration, including prominent horn writing, adds depth and color to the ensemble sound, while moments of delicate trills and tremolos evoke the glow and reflection of fading sunlight. Ending in a quiet, reflective close, Alpenglow offers ensembles a rewarding opportunity to explore dynamic contrast and expressive playing in a beautifully atmospheric setting.
