Description
A ship lost in the fog on the ocean at night is tossed and turned by the powerful winds. All seems lost until a beacon of light shining in the dark is spotted by the desperate crew. The opening measures describe the vast dark ocean upon which the tiny sailing ship is adrift. The main melody is a rising and falling musical idea depicting the large ocean waves. A second melody portrays the gentle glowing lighthouse in the distance, literally a beacon of hope. The final measures are in the major mode indicating the safe arrival of the ship on the shore.
