Dating prior to the Civil War, Every Time I Feel the Spirit is one of the most beloved spirituals. Like many spirituals, this one is both a song and a prayer. This arrangement begins with a driving eighth note rhythm which, after a contrasting middle section, returns to bring the work to an exciting conclusion.
