Description
Clash of the Smart Phones is a wild ride on the cellular network! The piece opens with a violin and cello dialogue when the imaginary cell phones start to ring. The call is answered with frantic staccato violins at a breakneck tempo. The melody and accompaniment engage in high energy communication. Who knows if the upper or lower strings will drop the signal first! The middle section morphs into a more plaintive tune with a slurred violin and cello conversation. The finale is rapid-fire with violins and cellos both talking at the same time. The piece and the call end with both sides hanging up on a concerted sixteenth note figure. Clash of The Smart Phones is a study in rhythm and dynamics in the key of E minor.
