Based loosely on The Castle of the Carpathians, an 1893 novel by well-known French author Jules Verne, Carpathian Castle, by Michael Story, tells the tale of a mysterious fortress in the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania. Opening with a majestic fanfare-like statement, the piece incorporates flowing melodies, building to a dramatic conclusion. (1:50)
